I went back and reread the articles you selected on Napoleon's bicentennial this week after attending a virtual lecture/author talk on Cynthia Saltzman's new book “Plunder: Napoleon's Theft of Veronese's Feast.” Her book deals with how Napoleon "looted"/"collected" (the verb choice can be "fun") Italian art as he made his way across the regions of Italy laying the foundations of today's Louvre.
